Macaroni & Cheese 2012
Plot Synopsis
We know film festivals screen films. But can film festivals stage love? French director Sophie Letourneur directs, writes, and stars in her self-mocking second feature about (female) filmmakers' experience in film festivals. Sophie attends the Locarno Film Festival with two friends Camille (a production assistant) and Carole. They drink, flirt, and break into French kisses at the glamorous yet dizzying film parties. For them, film festivals are not so much about watching films as about finding the right man to sleep with. Sophie keeps harping on her fated encounters with the French art-house heartthrob Louis Garrel; Camille keeps stalking Martin; Carole wants to end her 16-month abstinence. They gather in an apartment to reflect upon the previous summer's adventures.
